The third Test in Sydney between India and Australia became exciting. Pant and Pujara held the record for the largest partnership for the fourth wicket in the fourth innings in Australia by India. Together they added 148 runs. The duo broke the record of 139 runs shared by Vijay Hazare and Russian Modi in 1949.
During the partnership between Pant and Pujara, left-handed Rishabh appeared in aggressive mode while Cheteshwar scored with restraint at the other end. The two together took India's fourth innings score to 250. During this time, both the batsmen of Team India also completed their half-centuries. Although Pant lost his wicket while trying to hit a six off Nathan Lyon, he missed his century by just three runs. The wicketkeeper batsman made 97 runs in 118 balls with the help of 12 fours and three sixes before being dismissed.
On the other hand, after Pant was dismissed, Pujara also changed his gear and started scoring fast. But with an increase of 22 runs in the team's score, Pujara too bowled on the ball coming inside Hazelwood and returned to the pavilion. He scored a crucial 77 in 205 balls before being dismissed.
